As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Buddha Godd from Rockville to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Buddha Godd! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Buddha Godd: As a kid, ive always been around music whether it was in the streets or michael jackson blasting out the boom box, so i decided at a young age to start rapping

"Don't ever let em say you didn't put 100% into this s***! They drool at the thought of you getting lax….Prove 'em wrong!"

- Buddha Godd

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yeah I played live a couple times, mostly only in front of parties or kickbacks but I want to be mainstream pretty soon.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Like Lamarcus Aldridge playing Big 12, its a major difference between "U" and "I"
Every nigga riding for they dawgs, until them bitches get euthanized
- Buddha Godd

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I just put out my debut project for the summer that i been working on for about a year and a half. Joint titled "God Gold Glory" and its 9 hard songs on there expressing a lot of what i been through

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I wouldn't because of the fraudulent activity you hear huge artists had to go through over a crooked management deal. However, no underground artist gets paid the amount of money that signed artists do all by themselves either

Any last words?

240 you know i got you, but for now the 757 my logo!

As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Drastikk from Henderson to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Drastikk! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Drastikk: I always listened to music since a little kid and I loved writing so it felt natural. Around 8th grade I realized I could write my own songs maybe get people to love me as an artist too! I decided right then I would become a music artist. I didn't have any recording equipment or a name, but I knew this is what I want to do for life!

The same passion that drives you, can be the same passion that crashes you.

- Drastikk

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes I play live and I love the stage to be honest! Yes I've performed at concerts in the past and I'm sure to have many other coming in the future.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Ain't no sense in battling me/ it's pointless, like getting out the shower to pee/ -Drastikk
- Drastikk

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I'm currently working on the latest installment of my mixtape series titled "Sarcastik 3." I have a lead single titled "It's Up" releasing online and to all streaming platforms on August 27th 2019. The single will be released along with a music video that's already finished! I'm excited about this project and I hope my fans will love and embrace the mixtape.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes I would sign a major deal for the right amount and terms. I feel like the pros would be the ability to be heard on a bigger platform because they have the staff and relationships to break new artists under their brand. There's many pros but another top one to me would be the amount of exposure and marketing that's pushed into your project. The cons would have to be not having ownership and uneven royalties depending on the deal. It all depends on the stipulations and details in the contract for me.

Any last words?

I want to shout out the whole city of Henderson and the state of North Carolina because we the wave!

Featured artist: LATENIGHTJACE - A millennial from Atlanta

As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist LATENIGHTJACE from Atlanta to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, LATENIGHTJACE! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

LATENIGHTJACE: I've always wanted to be an artist since I was a kid. It just followed me to adulthood. I went to college to be a fashion designer. So I was always around the arts in college as well.

When you're letting people hear your music all you need to do is make one person happy & you have done your job.

- LATENIGHTJACE

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I have only done one live show. I plan on doing more when I have resources available to me. Right now I'm just trying to gain a following on the Internet.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

"How many niggas did it take to make her less, but still spread faster than brides legs on her honey moon"
- LATENIGHTJACE

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I'm working on my EP "3000" I already have one single out that's going to be on it titled Supernova "Extended". I've also released an EP titled "The Darkest Phase", and another one called "The Fall of First Semester" I worked really hard on the but I know I've grown since then.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yeah I would sign. The pros would have to be the exposure. You would almost immediately be on the map as a major artist. Even though a lot people are staying indie nowadays I would have to ink the paper. Some of the cons will be that the label will be all in your pockets. Some get their publishing taking away. You just have to make the right move so you won't get messed over.

Any last words?

Yeah shout out to Taski Martell, he's a dope artist. We working on a music group called NightLight Records. Shout out Kirill he's a good artist as well and photographer.
Also shout out to Justyin The Composer, without him my EP "The Darkest Phase" would of been way different. He's a talented producer from Atlanta.

It’s a new wave in the streets with an original feel

Featured artist: Mrdotlegend - It's a new wave in the streets with an original feel

As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Mrdotlegend from Baltimore to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Mrdotlegend! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Mrdotlegend: I seen a music video at the age of 2 from a hiphop legend by the name of "Biz Markie" titled – just a friend and after that I was sold running around the house singing it and eventually as time past I got older (about 10) and I began teaching myself how to write music and count bars on my own.Which I decided to take seriously as more time past and have been pushing my career every since!
I thank whoever came out with social media & streaming services because it has opened unbelievable doors for my career I wasn't able to open in prior years.
I have trained myself and learned not only the lyrical side of music but also the production (beats which I have been producing since I was 16), recording myself,Mixing and mastering and even marketing/promotion.

Keep going and never take a wooden nickel!

- Mrdotlegend

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes I have shows on the monthly basis.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Yea go ahead and check my slurring a** out
I'm doing more than that N***a that's
laying on your couch!
- Mrdotlegend

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I'm currently working on a new album due to release soon called "Flawless Victory" and yes I do have past works available on all streaming platforms and my website www.Mrdotlegend.com for half the price of a $0.99 stream.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes!

My pro's: They have relationships with big sponsors and other very popular entertainment companies and own most of the Rap game as far as Streaming service playlist, radio stations and more that you cannot 9 times out of 10 build on your own.

My cons: A lot of labels will take full ownership of your masters and take away your creative control which could raise an issue for a long lasting career but that's why I tell any and everyone to read fully what is presented to you and if it doesn't feel right don't do it!

Any last words?

I just wanna give a shout-out to all young and aspiring artist from my city to stay focused because there is a way out of the hole! There is a light at the end of the tunnel!Just don't stop creating no matter what.

It ain't where you're from...It's where you're going!

Featured artist: Strategy - It ain't where you're from…It's where you're going!

As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Strategy from Rapid City to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Strategy! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Strategy: My love affair with Hip Hop began as a pre adolescent. I was a latchkey kid, coming home and watching music videos after school. Intrigued, interested and inspired by various artists and hip hop culture itself…I decided to start writing raps, as well as start freestyling. I enjoyed it. After doing that for a while, I discovered I was good at it, by the opinion of myself, obviously, and from friends. Then after a few years of doing that and my further immersion into rap fandom, I knew that it was the ultimate way for me to express myself and thus the dream began.

Be persistent and patient. Anything worthwhile takes time. Never give up and always believe in your dreams.

- Strategy

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I most certainly do.

- Strategy

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Currently I am working on multiple projects at once. I have a few things coming down the pipeline, including albums as well as music videos.

I have released 2 mixtapes, an EP, as well as many promo tracks in the past. I also have 7 music videos out from those previous releases.

Everything can be found on my Soundcloud page and the videos on YouTube.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

It depends on the parameters of the contract. I am very adamant about having full creative control of my music, being able to release new material whenever I see fit, as well as owning all of my master recordings.
In my opinion…
The pros are major backing, visibility, distribution and promotion. A machine behind you.
The cons are potentially not being able to drop music when you want, not owning your master recordings, and not having full creative control.

Any last words?

I wanna shout out my people…
Celcius, Varsity Hi, D-A Dubb, Kareem Kamahl, Literati, Just Will, Felisa Latin Soul, Kevin Cooks, Kendel Norwood, Marcel, Donovan, Joseph Wallner, Jacob Burke, my Pops, my Stepmoms, my Moms, my Stepdad and my Auntie.

Song writer, Rapper, Singer, Performer

Featured artist: Tommy Ca$h Vercetti - Song writer, Rapper, Singer, Performer

As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Tommy Ca$h Vercetti from Detroit to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Tommy Ca$h Vercetti! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Tommy Ca$h Vercetti: At a young age, I fell in love with Hip-Hop and R&B. Throughout the years I studied Jay-z, Biggie, Stevie Wonder, New Edition and other artist who have inspired me. It started with me writing rhymes and songs in my notebooks, to having the confidence to present my music to other people who gave me positive feedback and good vibes.
As I got older and finally linked with my Dad to professionally record my vocals and listen back to them, that's when I decided to become a artist.

The best advice given to me as a artist, is to be yourself in your music, create so others can relate, never let up on your dreams and enjoy yourself.

- Tommy Ca$h Vercetti

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes, I do perform live shows and soon as my EP drops I will be doing concerts as well. Live vocal performance with a Dj or band will be what my show consist of.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

"Haters wanna act foul, but I still score And 1, built for this business, no need for no lessons, I just keep living and intaking my blessings, this rap game is a death match so I'm Russian rouletting."
- Tommy Ca$h Vercetti

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Right now I am finishing up my first EP "Food For Thought" and I released the first single "Money and the Fame" this past February on all platforms.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I want to sign to a major record label. I really want a partnership distribution deal with a major. The pros to signing with a label is that a label can help you with distribution, advertisement and studio time and can set you up with connections to different tours and relationships with other artist on the label. The cons to signing with a major label is that you will not always have creative control over what music gets put out to the public. The label decides on what's the best records you have created to put on your album or for a single.

Rap Streets of San Francisco

Featured artist: Black Solo - Rap Streets of San Francisco

As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Black Solo from San Francisco to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Black Solo! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Black Solo: I always wanted to live from music. I studied at the San Francisco Conservatory to become a sound engineer. I worked in several studios during the last 5 years. At the end of 2018, one of my friends recommend me to compose for myself. According to him I had some talent, but being rather shy, I did not really want to be on the front of the stage. Well, it's good to see the fan community listen to your songs.

As a sound engineer, when you mix a track, you must listen, you learn to listen to the artist feelings, to the vibes, to the fans. As a relatively 'young artist', my advice would be to « Listen and learn ». Listen to others, listen from others, listen from your body, listen from feelings, from people emotions.

- Black Solo

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Not yet. I recorded 3 tracks in studio early 2019. One of it, 'Maniac' seems to have a great scenic potential. I join the « Oh My Music » urban festival in Amsterdam in June. Let's see how far it goes.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Time is my best friend.
- Black Solo

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

For now, I released 3 tracks – « Level7 » and « BackSlash » are Cloud Rap styled songs. « Maniac » is a pure rap/pop track. First numbers on streaming platforms shows interest. So, starting July I will start to work on another trilogy.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I signed with a new label in Miami – Paradise Label. They manage my social network footprint, my website, my records. We'll see. It is not exclusive. So, I am open to any business proposal.

Any last words?

I started from nothing. All my childhood friends told me that the world of music and rap was inaccessible. San Francisco city had a program to help children learn music… I was fortunate to join. 10 years later, be an engineer of sound is my first step which gives me a certain legitimacy but above all that allowed me to discover myself as author and composer.

As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Fantacy from Pittsburgh to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Fantacy! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Fantacy: I was inspired by one of my boys I know since elementary. Around the age of 13 influenced by all different genres of music... mostly rap & rock & roll. We watched Wiz Khalifa & Mac Miller come up and rise ! That was so much motivation right there. That made me want to go so much harder to be like them but in my own way… but when he would freestyle it made me want to learn & eventually we started writing music together just recording and freestyling in the laundry room at my grams house on the IAMtpain app lol good times… After he passed away at 18 I told myself I would never give up and make it for both of us … I did my first show without him on stage but I know he was watching! Been at it ever since learning the ways and refining my steps

Be yourself, don't try and be just another clone.. be unique .. be one of a kind .. something people don't usually see often but when they do it lights up their hearts! ALSO have fun!!! That's what it's all about!

- Fantacy

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I play live .. I wish I had a full band, but that's another work in progress when I perform live it's usually jus need on the stage. Picking up a few instruments for live music and eventually to make different genre's of music

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Just enjoy this shit

I am currently working on a mixtape that will take over Spotify.. I have a mixtape you can still go download on DatPiff ha I think it's outdated now but!! If you go on their and type "virtual reality" my mixtape will come up featuring all old-school video game type beats & I was very young and dumb at the time .. please go check it out I am 25 now that was probably released when I was 16-17

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would consider signing a contract with a label, but I know my worth & would need to workout a partnership or I will eventually jus start my own record label … The only label I would want to sign to right now is JetLife Records or TaylorGang

Any last words?

Wrong or Right!!! You Decide

Featured artist: 3Mind Blight - Wrong or Right!!! You Decide.

As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist 3Mind Blight from Tulsa to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, 3Mind Blight! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

3Mind Blight: Believe it or not. I learned how to do music to keep my brother up at night when we were kids. Then I realized I really liked doing it…so I became a Rapper and a Rock artist.

"Be Yourself"

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I used to play live. I have just been doing studio releases for the time being.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I released two new single on May 2nd and May 15 and just sent a song to be distributed on June 5th.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

No. I am independent and will always stay that way. No amount of money can buy the control of my music. Music is how I feel and express myself. If I hand over the control of that..I wouldn't and couldn't be me.

Any last words?

Just my family. They know who they are.
