Featured artist: Elimino - The Next Slim Shady?
As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Elimino from Coos Bay to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Elimino! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?
Elimino: I started rapping at ten years old after i somehow got my hands on a Bone thugs N' Harmony album back in 2000. Dre's 2001 one album came out shortly after that featuring the up and coming Eminem… After hearing them, i knew that i wanted to do Hip-Hop!
The best advice given to me so far was from Atlantic Records' A&R Knowledge, who told me to make sure my songs weren't too "Rappy" and that my hooks were really important and should stand out in the song.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes, i currently so smalls shows at local clubs and am planning to go to Redding, california next!
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Catch Fate before it catches you, because it's something that you have to do/ we wont always have youth so i consider myself proof, that we're livin' the the path we choose/ you f%*kin douche..
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I have a one year non-exclusive deal with Bentley Records that i am finishing up. I Will be releasing my first full EP soon and likely following up with a series of singles im calling the Elimino Offense!
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes. The Pros are what the team that a major label can do for your workin on your behalf. A Con may be the direction they need you to go with your Image. It's a fine line, but im willing to tight-rope it! nothing ventured nothing gained!
Any last words?
Shout out to The infamous Aldeezy for his features on the EP, LA Familia Gang from Portland, OR, Bentley Records for signing me, My hometown Redding, and to my family and friends here in coos bay for their continued support!
Also much love to the fans who traveled from Washington, Oregon, and California to be at our last show! THANK YOU ALL
