Featured artist: JKRUNK - Hip Hop Is Not Dead
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist JKRUNK.
How did you decide to become an artist?
JKRUNK: Since i was a youngster, I've had this feeling I would be great at something and whatever it was it would be big. Being inspired from music videos, songs and just how it connected people, Hip Hop was something i just wanted to be a part of. I remember being in 5th grade doing my first poetry assignment at Del Rio Elementary, it was then when i realized i had the gift and how powerful it and I was. I was expelled for writing poetry, due to the content at hand. The teacher thought it was some kind of death note to her or another student. I never wrote poetry before then, but it made me wanna do it more. I thought, if i could get in this much trouble for writing a page imagine how much good i can do with an album.
People are going to hate you, people are going to love you, but what matters most is who you pay attention more to.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I have only performed once at Club Cuban Pete's in Long Beach, California. I was last on the slot, only the people i came with and about 3 others seen me perform as the lights started to come on.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Im not a good magician but i can make anybody vanish, all you gotta do really is put some holes where they standin
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
Right now, i have a home studio where i release songs weekly on my Soundcloud. Its not the best quality, but it lets me work at my own pace and see what demographics pay attention to. I have not released an album or a mixtape, but i will in the near future. Guaranteed. soundcloud.com/westcoastkrunk
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes i would, the pros are the exposure, experience, and also growth you get from it all. The cons are you have meet a certain standard, and what the label wants even if its out of your comfort zone you must provide. You have to "keep up with joneses"

I wanna give a shout out to any artist who is still in the struggle of making songs, its not an easy process but it is worth it. Shout out to Oceanside, California its my city and my hometown.
