Featured artist: Eric Brown - Rock & Hip-Hop in Harmony
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Eric Brown.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Eric Brown: I had always remembered being drawn to the guitar. Any kind of music that had that instrument captured my attention and I knew from an early age I wanted to be a professional guitarist. However, discovering what kind of artist I want to be is a journey I’m still on.
Practice makes permanent, perfect practice makes perfect.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I do perform live! I’m currently writing and recording music for a solo project, so my show schedule is pretty slow, but I will be backing other local artists at live performances and possibly fronting a cover band while I work on more original material. I like to stay busy.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Boom or that’s what what she said. Haha, both work well with timing
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I am currently working on my first LP, titled, ’Pick (M.E.) Up). At the moment I have two songs, available for free download via my ReverbNation page
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would, but it would depend on where I was in my career. Majors have all the money you need, so you know that cost isn’t much of obstacle. But they like to run an extremely tight ship, which could be artistically suffocating when you get involved in the bureaucracy that a major carries with it.
Any last words?
Shoutouts to my parents, my brother, and my boi’s, Julien Coy, AJ Lundy, and James Moore! I’m repping Northern Virginia, I’m all over out here, from Alexandria to Manassas.
