Featured artist: Reggie Kindz - Reggie Kindz
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Reggie Kindz.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Reggie Kindz: I’ve wanted to be a recording artist for as long as I can remember. I was raised around a shit ton of different styles of music and artists. My dad produces for rap artist, rock bands, metal bands, amongst other genres. So growing up I got to hang out with rappers and got to watch them work, they always got more of my attention than the other artist. I’ve been writing my own music since the age of 13. My lyrics reflect a lot of my life. Hanging out with my uncle when I was hella young probably 6-7, I remember him blasting Twiztid, Insane Clown Posse, Grym Reaper( Too Poetic, Gravediggaz), Scarface, Three Six Mafia, and a lot of other underground rappers, and I loved it. After hearing all that I hated other music. I still listened to Slipknot with him and all that, but it wasn’t what I loved. I started hanging out with other artists on the daily learning new styles and shit and when I started putting everything together I figured I wanted to start my own sound. As a artist, I’m still learning, but any artist who says they aren’t, is lying. You can learn something knew everyday.
You will feel like everyone hates you. Don’t let that get to you. Let it build you. Get their full attention, give them a reason to hate you. Fame can make you or destroy you.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
At the moment I don’t do live shows.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Lock the door shut the blinds, time to play doctor with Mista Kindz
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I am working on my debut album. I’ve released a few songs that can be found on soundcloud.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No. I don’t want to be told to do by anyone. I want to be myself. I won’t be told how to do me by someone just because they’re pushing a fat check at me. Fuck the mainstream. I’ll always be in the underground.
