Kickin' It With L

Featured artist: L Jay - Kickin’ It With L

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist L Jay.

How did you decide to become an artist?

L Jay: I decided to start music in 5th grade while free styling with my two best friends in Middle School. We always were in the hallway with our boom box and always had a passion for music. When i turned 17, i decided to put more into my music, as far as going to a professional studio, buying beats, and doing shows. Now, at 22, I’m doing pretty good with numerous shows.

The best advice given to me as an artist is to never give up. If you want something, make it happen. Tory Lanez told me that.

- L Jay

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I have played live. I’ve opened up for A.$.A.P Rocky, and participated in numerous shows in the NYC area and upstate.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Man y’all rappers is jokes/but I try, give em hope/dont work, and get blues, like I’m banging with Locs/

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I just dropped my latest project S.I.N (Success is Necessary) in August. Im working on a new untitled project to be released soon.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I’d love to sign a major label deal. The pros is better marketing,. You get a team focused on you. Other than that, everything else is bad. The percentage you lose off being apart of a major label sucks. Indie gets way more money off their music.

Any last words?

I want to shoutout my twin brother P. Fly and brother V, the two best friends i started rapping with. My family P Butta, Markz, HD, Cyph, Reign, and J Smooth. My Fang Gang Family Doogie, Silent Tiger, Floet, D Vad, Destiney, and Teri.
