Featured artist: Shameless - Unheard and Unhyped….The real deal in Nashville rap
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Shameless.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Shameless: I began reading at an advanced level at a really young age. Reading and a natural love of words led me very quickly to poetry; which was really my intro to hip-hop. I truly decided i wanted to rap when i bought SnoopDoggs ”Doggfather” on cassette tape.
”Practice does not make perfect; practice makes habits determination and focus create perfection” – Jaydee
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes. I have done shows…i will do more, though i keep them limited.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
”Breathe smell like liquor…dick smell like ya sister”….i guess?
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I have released three solo mixtapes in the past ”Smoke and Mirrors” was my first official mixtape followed shortly by ”Rebel” and my most recent release was via Independant label Untouchable Records calle ”The show must go on…”
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No. Independant music allows you to work on your own timeline, my biggest issue with major labels is they dont allow artist to create in real time. Sample clearances and getting one label to work with another by way of features and or digital releases is more trouble ultimately than whatever benefit there promo and marketing team is gonna get you. Plus i hate the structured artist development deals they give out now.
Any last words?
Check out artist Sofa Brown, Evan Blocker and Jaydee Nashville producer Ducko Mcfli is slept on, also shout-out to HHSolid for holding me down with the production on my current mixtape.
