Making his own way

Featured artist: Product - Making his own way

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Product.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Product: Well I started at the age of ten in my grandparents basement. It was me and my two cousin’s free styling all night that was the first time I really spit a rhyme.Years later, my sister decided to put me in the studio so i could learn to master my craft and become a well rounded artist. Honestly I have always had a vivid imagination and have been a great writer so i decided the best the way to express myself is through music.

Hard work and dedication to your music goes further than just trying to be lyrical and please the world.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am just about finished with my upcoming LP entitled ”Welcome to Hell’s Kitchen”.I have also recently released a mixtape entitled ”Welcome to Bucktown” and its available for download on DatPiff.com.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes I would sign a major label contract. The positives are as a major label artist there would be more exposure opportunities, better promotion, the opportunity to be know on a worldwide level, and most importantly having a major label that believes in me as an artist. However, the negatives would be if a label investes in me as an artist but then does not push my projects, the whole idea of a 360 deal, and I fear the labels are weary when signing underground artists because the artist often fails to meet the expectations of the general public.

Any last words?

I want to give a shout out to the whole 216 Rockaway Avenue East Building. Also to my mother, my wife and daughter, my sister and my nephew, you guys are my rock. And to the whole Get It Like A Boss movement (Juice, Sause, A-Tech, Flo-Rida, and Miss. Juicii) WE’RE HERE!!!!
