Thank's for your time! Let's start with the interview: What's your artist name?

Jsiadi Noon

How did you decide to become an artist?

Jsiadi Noon : Well, when I was a kid my mom was actually close friends with Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls. During the junior mafia days biggie was writing for the whole damn team and it was becoming too much so he decided to hired some writers. My moms girlfriend who went by the name ”Nicky Barnes” was actually one of the writers chosen. Around that time Nick was working on a demo called bottom to the top and the whole time 8 year old me was hanging around the studio, i was captivated by the ”process”. That’s when i wrote my first verse and it was so unexpectedly good that it made it on the outro of the demo. I still own that tape today. I haven’t really stopped rapping since then.

What was the best advice given to you as an artist?

That perception is reality. No one can give you your reality. You have to create it for yourself

Good advice! What about concerts? Do you play live?

Jsiadi Noon : I’ve played a few local shows in my area and countless open mics. With the release of my first official project i plan on setting up a east coast college tour this year.

What are your currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Jsiadi Noon :I just recently uploaded my first official release on datpiff.com its called The Gold Kollar Klub and im currently working on part two of that.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Jsiadi Noon : You never know what the future holds but i actually just got my LLC for my label so Gold Kollar Records is a official label and i plan to stay independent for as long as possible and build up a loyal fanbase … you know how the game goes. i finally got a good team around me now im feeling like Jordan

How did you decide to become an artist?
Fisky : My main inspirations come from life. When I was younger a lot of things happened that had never happened to people around me and I had questions no one could answer. I have always written from a young age as an escape and to try to find answers. It started out as poetry and short stories then when I was about sixteen a friend of mine gave me a hip hop mixtape, DJ Greenpeace I think it was, and there was a track on there by The Black Eyed Peas (before they were whatever it is they are today) from their first album called ”Falling Up”. Ever since, I’ve been hooked on Hip Hop. I love the storytelling aspect as well as the freedom it gives you to say whatever you want/need to say. It was a very natural progression to the point I’m at today. I didn’t wake up one morning and say ”right, I’m going to be a rapper” I didn’t even really mean to make an album. When something happens, good or bad, my first instinct is to pick up a pen and write. Its therapeutic and cheaper than psychiatrists…the album is available for free download at fisky.bandcamp.com. What was the best advice given to you as an artist?

When getting advice from other people always take it with a pinch of salt and remember that the only advice anyone will EVER give you is How To Be More Like Them. If one person makes a criticism it might just be a matter of their own personal genre tastes

How to copyright beats and lyrics

I've been learning some amazing things that music producers can apply to their business. One of the most important things for both artist and producers besides record deals is the topic "Copyright".

No matter if you are a rapper, a singer or a music producer, this might be of interest for you. I had a friend who had the following question.. 

Does anyone know how to copyright lyrics?

Let me answer this questions for all you that are looking for a solution since months:

According to Title 17, once the lyrics are fixed in a tangible medium, they are copyrighted. If you want legal protection then you need to register the copyright on a site like copyright.gov. I believe its 60 bucks but I might be wrong.

As I've said before if you're a producer (not a beat-maker) or you're a composer of original audio works, this article might be helpful for you.

How artists can impress producers when rapping on their free rap beats

As a producer, I like an artist that can handle a challenge. You think I'm gonna give you the hottest beats in my catalog for FREE? No, take this mediocre beats and impress me. Once you can do that, you can HAVE ANY beat cause then I know your capable of greatness. Also, artists.... learn to rock with something other than the "trap beat" formula!

It's simple: "Perfection takes time and a shoutout is always welcome!"

Producers like Diddy, Kanye and Artists like Ricky - this is a business first. If you are both building, create a backend deal for royalties. To the artists, stop making free mixtapes. Make EP's and push that, the bottom line is gonna be marketing anyway. Producers just be willing to create more creative lucrative deals with artist that really make your tracks pop and stand out - this is the way to become successfull. A lot of artist are still building themselves... but artists need to know the producer is the first to invest and deserves to be paid first.
