Featured artist: Montana Lee - Tap into Tana's World!
As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Montana Lee from Detroit to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Montana Lee! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?
Montana Lee: I decided to become a artist in 2016 seriously. At first it started off as a hobby which later changed into a passion.
I really haven't received advice from others..But I would tell other artist not to stop grinding.I would tell them to block the negativity and let the positivity overcrowd it.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Not yet but I got sumthing in the works
Best punchline you ever wrote?
"Got me thinking to myself
Locked up in my thoughts,
It got me thinking inna cell
Tryna go to heaven but I'm thinking bout a hell
I'm grinding for the poor,
But steady thinking about the wealth
Got too many vices I ain't thinking bout my health
When u got a good heart
You ain't thinking bout yourself
Mindset u wanna win
You ain't thinking about no L
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I'm currently working on an upcoming project but it's not titled yet…However in the past I dropped multiple projects. (Montana Lee E.P,#NoFilter, and I.V E.P
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I personally would sign to a major label because there will always be a need for extra push in your musical journey. However a con of a label is probably the fact that they have total control of your career
Any last words?
I wanna give a shoutout to Veto,Don Hulieo, Mono,Timpa,BreakOutBox,Dodbh, and everybody else working in the city
Where can people follow you to stay up-to-date?
