Featured artist: Darius - It's all love in my city
As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Darius from Muncie to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Darius! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?
Darius: Originally, I was doing it for therapy, after facing some issues with bullying and with mental health issues. Then I put down the mic for a while, because I grew into someone fake. Then I picked it back up again during college once I realized the politics in this country were shifting and I could do something about what is going on in my life, my city, my region, and my country.
Market yourself well. If you can get the marketing right, then the financing and everything else will eventually follow and you can be a successful artist.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes, I do. I have played local shows in Muncie, Indiana at this venue called Be Here Now, which is in the Ball State University village. I'm still hoping to expand beyond that part of town and outside of the state and country.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I have worked on party music for my college parties. I have also worked on political music and I was hoping to release a political album before 2020. However, I'm probably going to keep experimenting until I find something that suits me well and that people really vibe with across the country.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would rather stay independent, especially since I mostly make underground sounding tracks. Of course, I can also make stuff that isn't underground sounding, but I'd rather go with the raw underground sound that people miss in mainstream music.
Any last words?
Shout out to Delta Gamma Iota fraternity. It's an independent fraternity that doesn't quite do things like other fraternities in Indiana. We don't have the problems that other fraternities have.
