The new wave...

Featured artist: Cupid Valentino - The new wave..

As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Cupid Valentino from Houston to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Cupid Valentino! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Cupid Valentino: Since I was a baby I was in love with music, I actually took my first steps to a speaker playing some music. I really got in tune with making music when I was 12 years old with a group of my friends. We use to make music every day after school and one of there cribs and formed a group called "TYG".We performed at schools & talent show and after that I developed a more passion for music and I knew that I wanted to be a entertainer.

The best advice that was giving to me was to stay consistent and ride your own wave; be yourself.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I use to put together parties around the city and use to be the MC for the party while my brother was the DJ and every time I held the mic it felt like a concert in the building.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

I'll cut it up like a deck of cards or I can split the line up like Cupid V with 2 different broads

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Right now I'm working on my EP with a few other things I have going on with my other ventures in other areas so this is going to be a very busy and active year

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would rather partner with a record label right now. I would continue running under my own Indie label and get the indie label a contract rather myself as a artist. The pros of being on a major label are outstanding for some artist and can benefit some one that doesn't have any backing. They help with a lot of things not to get in detail with that but they also take a lot more money out for all the work they do.

Any last words?

One time for SMOKETOWN

Where can people follow you to stay up-to-date?
