New to the Freshman List

Featured artist: Ejypt - New to the Freshman List

As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Ejypt from Los Angeles to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Ejypt! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Ejypt: As a kid I always used to freestyle with my boys, or have "roast battles". I never thought to take it a step further until one day a close friend of mine set up a mini studio in their apartment bathroom where I record my first single Don't Touch. In a weeks time I had thousands of streams on that song and knew I couldn't stop there!

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I have had the opportunity to perform at clubs in Los Angeles and in Maryland.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Get Squenked! Be Squenked! Stay Squenked!

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am currently working on my Album "AMBAZONIA" and recently released a pre album project called Ultra Instinct. All produced by Johnny Juice!

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

As long as the passion and trust is there, yes! I don't necessarily want to sign to a label just for the deal or the name. I want to be apart of and represent a label that understands me as an artist, believes in my music 100% and has a goal of seeing us rise to new heights as a collaboration. If it's the right fit, go for it!

Any last words?

I will forever and always shoutout my friends and family in the DMV and my family in the Valley! SQUEEENK!!! (Lit)

Where can people follow you to stay up-to-date?

Thank you for your time. We wish you much success in your further career.
