Featured artist: Star UTG - A Star Emerged
As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Star UTG from St. Louis to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Star UTG! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?
Star UTG: I decided to become an artist at an earlier age when I visited my brother out of state and his friend was and artist going to the studio on the regular. This friend had albums he were selling and even featured my cousin on a song and that was cool to me. I felt I could rap better than this friend and wanted to join the music world myself.-
The best advice I received was to keep making music and performing because there will always be a hand full of people that will not want to see you advance in your career whether you know them or not.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I perform at concerts often with the opportunities to perform in Texas, Ohio, Illinois, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
"There's no bunk beds for a coffin so I'm all alone. I flip the bird like my finger, so I stand alone."
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I have 2 projects in the past out on all music streaming platforms called "The World Will Know My Name" and "Spaced Out." Current I am about to release a collaboration album with a fellow R&B artist that have great vibes and energy.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No. I would like to stay independent and have more control of my music. The pros are more promotion and exposure but with the hard work and dedication, I feel that I can achieve that goal on my own.
Any last words?
I would like to shout out St. Louis, MO and my team KruLif3, a city and team that keeps me motivated and help me stay humble and grounded.
Where can people follow you to stay up-to-date?

Thank you for your time. We wish you much success in your further career.
