Featured artist: Krys Kokaine - Soundcloud Rapper
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Krys Kokaine.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Krys Kokaine: music has always been a way for me to express myself . When I was younger I played many instruments including clarinet , piano , guitar and drums and I also sang and wrote poetry so growing up listening to rap made me want to express myself in that way . When I first started rapping it was just for fun but then people actually started listening and liking my music so that's when I started taking it more seriously .
The best advice given to me as an artist would be to accept constructive criticism and don't be afraid to express yourself . At first I would take the criticism negatively but it wasn't it actually helped meprogress as an artist and produce better material .
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I've played live many times but not as a Rapper . I used to be in a metal band and we would travel and play shows every week , I never did it as a solo artist though and that's my dream .
Best punchline you ever wrote?
I rather my nose bleed just to see I'm alive cause my bloods just a spiritual path to survive so I die to get lyrical
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I'm currently working on a self produced EP . I have released many single tracks along with self produced instrumentals but I have never released a full album .
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes and no it all depends . The pros to signing with a major record label would be that I definitely get my name out there and produced great tracks with great artist and producers . A con would be that I no longer would be a indie artist and I might have to make a lot of changes to myself including my originality and sound and that's not something I would want to do .
Any last words?
I want to give a shout out to Drayton Gold , the first artist who let me produce a track for him . I want to shoutout my brother Alex for getting my name and my music spread all across Spokane Washington . I wanna shoutout the 516 and the 845 . Hempstead where I live and Middletown where I'm from .
