A life long journey

Featured artist: essence - A life long journey

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist essence.

How did you decide to become an artist?

essence: I became an artist by truly finding myself . I found thru my life of gangs ,drugs , violence, Marine Corps and 2 failed marriages that I was always living for everyone one else and what they wanted me to be . I realized after being used and taken advantage of for so long that I wasn't being true to me and when I did – my true inner self is a artist . I make beats , rap , draw and tattoo . Being an artist is my whole existence. Even at 39

Be your self and don't apologize for it

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I have played live at parties and raves in the past dj/Mc . Currently I'm not doing any venues

Best punchline you ever wrote?

It's best to describe how I feel is real ,all you see is hate and racism be for real
- essence

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Primarily making tracks to put vocals down to . Previously has been a lot of instrumental electronic and trap , and hip hop beats. I'm currently looking to get into a studio to lay some vocals down and make some solid tracks

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I believe I would sign if the terms were right . It would be nice. to have financial backing for a project but I worry my creative input would suffer and possibly be controlled on what I should say etc

Any last words?

The Bay Area , Tracy , Stockton Cali and now I'm in Arizona and getting love in Phoenix
