Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist MNSSH.

How did you decide to become an artist?

MNSSH: I was inspired by the artists EMINEM and 50 Cent back in school when I was 13. Music speaks for me, especially when it comes to emotions. I can express my inner fears and desires best through music. Back then I had a lot of psychological issues due to being exiled in school by my classmates and with that having trouble at home in addition. Music was my way to escape the harsch reality and find the motivation to move on when I felt lost.

Be yourself! It took me years to actually understand what that means. I started off with gangsta rap and all that but fact is I was never raised in that type of Ghetto circumstances. So I was basically copying what other artists saying instead of being real and creative and speak about my life and thoughts. It took me years of transformation and development before I finally began to understand the true meaning of those two words.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I do, currently in phases throughout the year. Sometimes I am booked simply to host a club event in Germany as an MC but mostly I add a short Live performance with it to introduce my latest work. The people love it. It's incredible how well my music has developed and how it reaches the masses.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Back when i started, nobody cared by now I am regarded, you making money that's cool for you bro I'm not hating but truth is it stink cause I farted.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Lately I have released two singles through my digital label Soul Kingz Records with two of my homies, of which both charted in Europe with the single "Like the Fugees" even making it to #5 on the German MTV Urban Charts. So following up on that, I am currently working on new singles which will be released over ne next 6 months.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

It really depends on the deal to be honest. I mean the Major label is a big move but you have to make sure the deal is good for you. Don't just jump into it because it's a major label. Things can easily turn on you. But I believe the best option to go for that benefits both sides is partnering with a major. Not being directly signed gives you the freedom to decide what to release and to some extent when. The Major label still can grow your career and profit from it as you do along the way.

Any last words?

Berlin to Hamburg baby, that's what it is! Salute to my homies at Soul Kingz Records, DJ Seip and Devonte. Big shout to my brother Shoko for the daily inspiration and growth support and mad love to everyone on Blackbeats.FM Radio representing my work throughout Germany to the fullest! May seem forgotten but I gotta show love to my Hustling Spirit family in NJ posted up designing new gear and supporting the movement!
