Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Akeim Takamura.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Akeim Takamura: It all started when I was 11 years old, I got given this CD with an Eminem song on the 13th Track, it was the song Mocking Bird. I loved the storytelling style and flow that was used. Since that day I started listing to a lot of hiphop/rap, but it wasn't until I was 14 when I started writing my own stuff. It was all for fun at first, but when I turned 15 I created my own YouTube (Akeim Takamura) and decided to recored myself rapping. After one video so many people enjoyed it and said I should do a second one, so I did. I started writing more but none of my raps really made any sense, I didn't have a purpose in writing. It wasn't until I was 16 when I started writing my emotions, my feelings and things going on around me. Rap turned from rhyming words to my stress release, It became apart of me. Now I am 17 and I'm using my words to keep me moving in life and to give others a message.

Every hate that you get, picture it as a step to a ladder, each time you get it, step on it and make yourself climb higher to the top

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I haven't yet performed live, the closest thing to a crowed I've had ever had would be when I walked in the middle of the city rapping my song (Time By Time) for a music video, which was filmed with a friends iPhone. But I'm willing to play live with every opportunity I get.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Where you at, I'll shoot ya. Right in the back, with a gun? no stupid. No bullets, I ain't no Cupid. Creating love, chemistry from students
- Akeim Takamura

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am always working on new material, but I'm currently working on a track that I wanna do my second music video for. As of if I've release something in the pass I've got a whole collection of songs and even music video on my YouTube channel (Akeim Takamura)

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I'll love to sign with a major label because i'll be with people have been in the game for years and they are experience, but if they wanna change my style, I'll stay independent.

Any last words?

I'll like to give a shoutout to AJAKS and Adelaide City, we're small but we can achieve big!
