Featured artist: Fresh Money - Torontos Fresh Money
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Fresh Money.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Fresh Money: Writing has always been my way of expressing myself. I came from a musically oriented family so I naturally took after that. One of my older brothers and mentor had built a home studio when I was 13 where I recorded my first song over an original beat. I introduced myself to recording and beat making programs and also went to co-op programs for audio engineering to expand my knowledge in the music industry. After learning the Final Cut program and editing all my own visuals I realized that I have the passion to be an artist and everything it comes with.
”Be yourself, cause in the end you want them to love you for who you are and not who you pretend to be.”
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I recently opened for a big name artist on a tour. Most of my performances are at local clubs and lounges when I’m brought out
Best punchline you ever wrote?
The way I run the city you would I was on a treadmill, the way I run my team you would think it was a militia, they see that young nigga he get it they couldnt picture it, but I dont expect’em cuz I aint photogenic wit it..
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
Im working on my first mixtape called ”real ones”.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would sign with a major record label, the pros is that it gives an artist the exposure they need to be successful. Another pro is that productions and musical expenses are paid for. The cons is that they own rights to the music you make and you work according to they’re schedule. Therfore when you have deadlines, its more like your writing this music because you have to in comparison to because you feel to.
Any last words?
Shout to Frontline Living Productions which is my team, my sponsors, my independent production. Shout out my entourage IVIVI Sound. My engineer Dj Merciless. Representing the 6 side, Toronto the true north.
