Featured artist: Salazar ”El Tabaquero” - ” Spanglish Anyone ”
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Salazar ”El Tabaquero”.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Salazar ”El Tabaquero”: Music is something I’ve always loved since I was really young since before I even heard Hip hop really. Once I got older I went from doing freestyles on the block with my homies to the studio and everything pretty much wrote itself from there. The real only twist is one day messing around I wrote a verse in Spanish. Since I’m pretty fluent in Spanish being a 1st Cuban Amercian my producer at time ”Los” told me to focus on it and I picked up an audition deal with Sony Latino in 2003 through AOD productions and started my journey in the music game.
It’s a cut throat business if you do it you better make sure you love it.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes I do I’m apart of a Collective called ”Tabaqueros” and I’m playing live with them.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
”Nadie aqui toca lo mio deja el alarde y el lio”
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I’ve released a couple of mix tapes you can find on www.salazar.bandcamp.com
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
For me at this point it wouldn’t be a smart to do that not knocking any Major. For me it isn’t pro’s or cons just contracts you got to make sure you Know whatnot signing and agreeing to.
Any last words?
S/o to God for blessing me with this gift and giving my spirit life. My parents for always supporting me and excepting me for who I really am. Of course all of my fans all over the world. My collective Tabaqueros (Yeyo, Jan,Itagui, & Bobbo, Locos Por Juana) all my influences in music for making me who I am there just too many to name. Everyone’s who has ever believed in me period. With out any of anything I just mention there would be no me as far as music.
