Featured artist: Soap - No one’s got cleaner bars than Soap’s

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Soap.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Soap: My dad would play Tupac, N.W.A, House of Pain, and 311 cassette tapes for me when i was probably 5 or 6 and i loved it, it was perfect. Later in life bands like Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, and Guns & Roses turned me into a rocker. I had already learned violin and string bass from school music programs so I tried my hand at the guitar to follow these rockers, i kept trying to write songs with it but one day it just kind of clicked that I was a better writer/rapper than anything. I wanted to be able to focused on my lyrics so I start rapping at the age of 12 and never stopped. I’m now 20 years old and I even engineer and produce all my own beats as well as write all my own lyrics. I truly love how much creativity these beats and lyrics can produce, the possibilities seem endless.

Relax and loosen up a little.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I’ve released numerous songs via YouTube but I’ve just finished my first Ep this week so now waiting to get all the copies back.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes, it’d be a good step in my promotion and success but I would want to state very clear that my music is MY decision. I’m the artist for a reason.

Any last words?

Thanks to my dad, grandma, grandpa, uncle, and aunt for being so supportive and helpful with my music journey thus far. Also a shout out to my hometown Salt Lake City, Utah. There’s about to be some stars coming out of here.
