Featured artist: MatBeezy - i hate the perception….
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist MatBeezy.
How did you decide to become an artist?
MatBeezy: One day….while i was serving a term in the marines, i met this dude, that i had heard had a studio in his room. But see i had a buddy who knew i messed around sort of speak. He told, studio guy, studio guy caught up with me over chow one day. When he finally got the chance to hear me sing, he was shocked, or so he say, but long story short, the guy ended up producing a full project for me, my very firdt, 14 track disc, and disappeared on me. I stumble cross some random guy, one day, playing music, that sounded really familiar, noticing, i knew all the words, it was obvious. He had been selling my music, for 12 a pop. He had been known to have been selling them out of San Diego,Ca. I never looked for him. I was pissed. Highly. I told myself a that moment, im gonna do this myself. The rest is history, been at it ever since.
The best advice, that was giving to me, was from my father. He told me one day on the phone, ”son i may not be very supportive of that kinda music, but im a 100% supporter of my son. He said if thats what you want to do, then you go get it. Let nothing or noone stop you, you have a gift. it only take one shot.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I have never given a concert, but i have performed live. You see my singing roots are from the church, and so, i sang all my life in many different places in front of many people.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Dont be that way..
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I am currently working on my first mixtape. Its caled ETA:NOW. Estimated Time Arrival: Now. In the past i have been a major part of various artists mixtapes, as well as compilations. Back in 2006, there was the Mixtape Massacre. 2007-8, there was the Affiliated & Exclusive ENT mixtape. Both of which werent marketed or promoted right.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes. I would sign with a major depending on who it is, considering, I only would sign with just a few labels out there. The pros and cons, kinda flucuate, know what i mean? Sometimes money is good, sometimes its bad. The pris and cons in my opinion, vary all the time.
