Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Stone Cruz.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Stone Cruz: Honestly I don’t really remember that. Ive loved music for as long as I could remember but I think it was seeing Jay-Z’s ”Fade To Black”, Listening to Kanye West’s College DropOut, and hearing Nas’ One Mic, those were the 3 defining memories that got me to take it seriously.
Never compromise your art for fame.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes I do perform live, I’m currently setting up an east coast tour for either the 4th quarter of 2015 of the 1st quarter of 2016
Best punchline you ever wrote?
I couldn’t tell you.
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I’m currently work on a few projects but the next one slated for release is my 3rd EP ”Broken Promises” coming on May 3rd.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I probably would if the situation was right. A lot of these labels don’t expect the young hip hop artist too now the business side of this but I went to college for this so I do know that being signed to a major is a big deal. They can put you on a platform to reach way more people including other major artists, and the promotion and press that you receive from a major is harder to get independently so that’s all great, however in this industry I do see that their are many snakes and opportunists so that’s a con, and I refuse to conform on any level to music that is not me.
