Featured artist: Big Repa - Fresh Out The Grave
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Big Repa.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Big Repa: I used to write poems all the time. Then one day I heard the song f**k the police by N.W.A. and was hooked on rap. Even though the I love R&B more I was not blessed with a singing voice. Then one day my first partner asked me to freestyle with him and liked what he heard so we became Pound and Daddy Sam. We did a few songs together before I went through some things in my life and my partner who is also my cousin dubbed me Repa because of the beasts and lyrics I started doing.
The best advice I was given was to learn to start writing my lyrics. The second best advice was when I was taught how to count bars when doing music.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I have only did two shows so far and the first show I froze up as soon as I opened my eyes and looked at the crowd.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
seen you walking hit you with the d@*n car, douse you with the gasoline jar
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
working on my CD titled Open Book this CD is more personal than the one I did for free titled Out The Grave.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No I wouldn’t cause I want full control over everything I do. If I fail or succeed want it to be because of me entirely not fail because the label want me to sound like some one I’m not.
