Featured artist: Key-Low (of Rukkus) - The Future of Rap
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Key-Low (of Rukkus).
How did you decide to become an artist?
Key-Low (of Rukkus): As a youth I enjoyed listening to rap music and began to study the art. As I grew I would write short rhymes and share them my friends. I would freestyle for hours and gained notoriety as a dope rapper. Years later i would co-found a group named Rukkus in Sacramento, CA.
The best advice ever given to me was to be myself and do what I do! Not long ago I received a phone call and was asked to bring hip-hop back!
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes, I do perform live and have performed recently in Atlanta, GA.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Sorry for the pain I caused / Now I gotta paint the walls / Even though I read Qur’an / They’ll still hang me on the cross.
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
Just finished my album ”Trap Life”. Currently finished a intro song for a show on Desert Storm Radio. Doing features and collaborations presently.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would definitely sign a deal. My goal is to make a better way for my people. The pro’s are national exposure, cash advancements, guidance, etc. The cons are if you don’t make the most out of your opportunities.
Any last words?
First, I would like to shout out God for giving me breath to breathe and the ability to create music. Next, I have to shout out everyone that ever supported my movement! I also want to shout out every city and every state.
