Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist SouthSide MacBoi.
How did you decide to become an artist?
SouthSide MacBoi: I started off writing poems and I love hiphop and rap music….so naturally, poems started spilling over onto beats over the saturday night mixes and that led to me writing songs that were so untraditional like 24 bar verses..32 bar verses…ha haa….just all over the place …and I eventually learned to put 16 to 1 and its been on since then.There were the rap battles in the hood and i stood out amongst mu friends and some of those guys are beasty with the flow…but some how I prevailed and winning those battles envouraged me to take it further….so…HERE I AM!!!
The best advice given to me as an artist is to never become an industry puppet and allow them to put me in a box with the rest of the artists of the day!
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Me and my guys have performed live on stage and we love it and plan on getting to higher grounds by getting the big shows poppin’ off.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I’m currently working on my 1st mixtape thst was supposed have been released last summer but everything fell through…my team fell apart and went separate ways and from there it’s been single after single so it’s been rough.Now ..Life From Right Here and The Mind of MacBoi will be dropping back to back real soon…let’s keep the fingers crossed…ha haaaa!
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would rather do it on my own, but with creative control over our music and keeping the rights and royalties with the right pay…just maybe.Just not into being put on a string and controlled like trying to have me dress a certain way and act a certain way when and how they want…no good…gotta be me always!!!!
