Featured artist: Prattsmith - Prattsmith… A New DEDE
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Prattsmith.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Prattsmith: I am Co-Founder of an independent label called Do Em Dirty Entertainment aka DEDE originally from Santa Cruz, California, in 2011. I made beats, recorded and co-wrote songs for local artists, as well as, put on a number of shows at local venues. Always being behind the scenes, I decided to come out of my shell and started recording my own songs. Since I moved to San Jose, California, Ive developed stronger support and motivation to just be me and ”Do my thang”!!
”If you like your sound, somebody else will too”
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I have before and I know I will again soon!!
Best punchline you ever wrote?
”Why u look mad? Cause we celebratin, U shoulda been here from the start participatin” From -”We Ride” Ft RL–
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I have two projects; an instrumental mixtape & an EP. Both still in the works. I’ve had a DEDE collab mixtape I released in 2012 called ”All DE, Every DE”. I made all the beats and did the mixing and recording.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would love to sign with a major! Pros: Doin what I love to do; produce and record for a living! Cons: It hasn’t happened yet.
Any last words?
I wanna shout out my beautiful wifey, Olivia and my unborn child coming in March 2015!! My homeboy down in West Hollywood, Nash Collins who co-founded Do Em Dirty Entertainment with me. My Boy Ross Lewis aka RL, who I collab with the most. All the artists Ive ever collaberatted with. Shout out West Hollywood, the land of opportunity.
