Featured artist: Edn3rd - The First ”Nerd” Rapper
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Edn3rd.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Edn3rd: I grew up listening to a variety of music. Rap, pop, rock, jazz, country, you name it I probably have a couple of songs I enjoy in that genre. I was always writing poetry in elementary. Around middle school is when I got more serious about rapping. My friends and I would have rap ciphers at lunchtime and bang beats out on the table while we took turns spitting our little verses. Around high school I started writing songs but had no beats. Producers wouldn’t sell beats at a decent price and downloading instrumentals that were already used wasn’t gonna get me anywhere so I started producing my own beats out of necessity. And my diverse knowledge of music combined with my lyrical talent and life experiences incorporated into my songs has made me the artist I am today.
You have to have pride in what you make. If you don’t have pride in your work, how can you expect anyone else to like it?
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes, I have performed live before
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Wet pussy makes niggas come quicker than vine videos
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
Currently working on songs and beats. No major project as of yet
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes
Any last words?
Shoutout to Brooklyn, birthplace of me and some of the greatest rappers to ever touch a mic. Shoutout to New York City. Everybody else I’m forgetting to shout out I apologize because my memory isn’t the greatest but much love.
