Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Midi Madeoff.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Midi Madeoff: Ed Midi aka Midi Madeoff is a producer/dj/engineer/graphic designer/web designer/video editor/ from Philadelphia, Pa. His first musical experiences came from listening to a lot of James Brown and Motown riding around with his dad as a kid. After that he was introduced to hiphop by the radio on friday nights and thats where it all begins. Midi along with a childhood friend Daz Jones realized he wanted to be involved in hiphop in the 1st grade so he started to build his hiphop collection so he could study and attempt to get in the game. By age 10 he was in a group doing talents shows etc dj'ing/rapping which eventually leads him to wanting to make beats. One christmas he got his first keyboard casio sk1 which sampled and start to loop things anything he could find.
Fast forward to high school Midi gets a 4 track and a sampler and start putting in work with his homies from the area. After graduating in1996 Midi attended the Art Institute for Music Business. But right before that he got a Akai MPC 3000 his first official professional equipment which took his production to another level. While in the Art institute Midi applied for an Internship that would lead him into the office of someone he had studied DJ Ran. After completing the internship Ran brought Midi onboard full-time to manage his Record Pool and help him manage his website etc. While in that position Midi had the opportunity to record sessions with the likes of Mobb Deep, Ghostface, Dipset and a few others.
After that Midi moved on to manage the local record Store Phenomenal Records for the next 5 years… While there he got to bump into all the signed artists as well as all the local rapper's and had the chance to pass beat cds to Assad, Indy 5 and later Peedi Crakk. After making these connections Assad dropped a majority Midi Produced "Rapping For Dummies", Midi then went on to engineer tracks for Peedi as well as producing a track for him and two for Indy.
By 2010 Midi had it and set out to work for himself and has been building his brand but was forced to take a 2 year hiatus from production that led him to Cali. During that time he started a blog and released 10 mixtapes from it.2012 Midi returned to philly energized. When he returned Midi reconnected with his partner Montana Max to form DopeBlogk.com to date we have released an EP, an LP and two video as well as beats and exclusive songs. With much more slated.
Sell out.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I’m currenty working on Imax the first full release by the group I’m in Max Madeoff
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No, i’d parter up but no I don’t want a record deal thats like being a glamorized mc donalds worker. Making money vs not making any and having full creative control.
