Louisiana's Next Up!

Featured artist: Big Shane - Louisiana’s Next Up!

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Big Shane.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Big Shane: Mainly from growing up in a music loving atmosphere. Dad use to be a radio station DJ, alot of cousins were freestyling in the streets and building names for themselves. So as i got older, payed more attention and learned the recording/biz process, i felt it was time for me to try it out and see what the streets would think about my story, because at the time i had alot to speak on from daily situations. Built a name and buzz around the local schools, started killing the talent shows and open mics, then from there my name started picking up online and various cities that i never been too & i havent stopped or slowed down since.

Even when they doubt your dreams & goals, keep pushing to make them believe & see it was possible.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes. Just within in the last 2-3 years, i performed in over 5-6 states & 3 different countries, including the U.S.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

All of them are my best so i’ll make up one just for you! .. ”I Spit sick, like i never floss / need false teeth.. My presence like a present / i stay with trees & wRAP beats

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I recently dropped my street album ”Mixed Emotions” which is out now on itunes, and other online music & blog sites. Also i have my own clothing line which was just released, OverNightGang Clothing Co., so be sure to check that out also at ONGClothing.BigCartel.com

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would, but the paperwork would have to be like one of those deals they were giving in the 80s & 90s haha. I like what alot of indie lables are doing nowadays, they’re EATING!

Any last words?

Most def.! I gotta shout out my people!! Everybody who’s been rocking with me and supporting me since day one, i salute! Also my city, HUGE shouts to DeRidder Louisiana, small town but we making big moves. There’s alot of talent around my city, i respect everybody’s hustle & vision, so salute to everyone in the D thats grindin, its love!! Shouts to lake charles & leesville also, they been showing major love to me man. All the homies in the streets who dont get online to read stuff like this, all the ones sick & shut in or even incarcerated, i do music for people like that. Im just showing people its REAL out here, dont get caught up in what media is pulling you into, and what alot of these rappers are telling you to do, but they dont even do it. Make your own lane, and create your own thoughts, nothing wrong with being different. Last but never least, thank you GOD!
