Featured artist: Derrick Duncan - Derrick Duncan: Up and coming

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Derrick Duncan.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Derrick Duncan: I started singing and listening to R&B at a young age, so I instantly fell in love. Growing up, my parents played alot of hip hop and R&B from a lot of artist; People like Dr. Dre, Snoop, Outkast, Goodie Mob Etc. I always knew I wanted To be like them one day, so i started to write rhymes and it all made sense from there.

Some good advice J.Cole told me was to keep pushing and keep creating.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am currently working on my free album ”92til4eva” and it will be available online May 28th, 2014

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

It all depends on what the business looking like, but me and my partners are staying independent for the most part. its alot of pro that come with signing, like nice budget, more promotion, and opens doors for more business projects. Some cons are label having control of your music, having to pay labels back all money they invested, and the chance of making more money is smaller than being independent
