Featured artist: Los D. The P.O.E.T - Authentic Hip Hop Discovered in Morganton, North Carolina
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Los D. The P.O.E.T.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Los D. The P.O.E.T: Well, it all goes back to me being a lil’ kid, I’ve always been around music since I could remember. When I was lil my family, like cousins and uncles, would always get together and jam in my aunt’s basement in Columbus, Ohio. So, I kind of picked it up from always being around. When I was big enough to walk around, I would always creep downstairs and just make a lot of noise in the basement. But it wasn’t until I was 17 and in my 10th grade English class in High School, where I wrote my first rhyme, it was wack, but I knew; ”Hey I can do this” and in about 2000 I recorded my first song. I always learned how to make beats and engineer during the same year, because at the time, I thought; ”What if the person I’m recording with decides to move away, which actually happened, and I didn’t have money to hit the studio at that time” So while I worked on my craft, I learned how to do it all myself from my mentor Naethoven, and then now, I’m like the main guy around, if you’re a serious artist in Morganton, NC and you really want to get great quality, they come to me, for that or beats. So, that basically how it all started, the rest was just self development.
Always keep in mind, that their are no such things as haters, they are just people who love your music, that say what they say to try to keep their popularity with others!
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Right now, I play at the local open mics, just perfecting my stage presence, but I would love to do some concert in the future, just holla at me.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Ya’ll like spiders in the trees/ write your name/ in shame/ with the words that you weave.”
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
Currently I’m working on a new solo album, and featuring a lot of great artist. In the past ”Life in 3D”, and ”The Inception” w/ C=MC3.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would if I had 100% creative control. The pros would be, better promotion and marketing, the cons, hmm, not being able to make the type of hip hop I really love to make…
Any last words?
Nah, not really! lol, Yeah, shout out to Alaric (Su-preme) Wilder for working with me in the past, and shout out to the city of Columbus, Ohio, and shout out to those in Morganton, NC that actually rock with me… To everyone else, I’m coming!!!
