Featured artist: Jones - The Face Of Mendota
As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Jones from Mendota to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Jones! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?
Jones: I started rapping when i was 14 at first it was just something i did for fun with my older brother but as the years went by i started developing a real passion for music and also battle rap i would battle in the lunch rooms and hallways of my school and also rap in talent shows
Advice I would give other artist is to never let anybody hold you back if you have a dream go for it and give it your all if someone doesn't support you or believe in you its best to get them out of your circle early never let anybody else's beliefs effect what you wanna do or the way you move
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I am currently available to do shows
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I am currently working on a album called broken and a mixtape called going hard vol 3 I have one album called beautiful pain and i have done several mixtapes
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would sign if its worth it its not just about the money for me
Pros i would have people behind me to help me learn what i need to do to succeed
Cons i wouldn't be able to do everything my way im very particular about my music
Any last words?
Shout out to L.M.E H.O.D Gorilla warfare and all my supporters
