As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Stocktanian from Sacramento to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Stocktanian! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?
Stocktanian: Writing lyrics occupies my mind from negativity. Then I noticed other people who have been making their own lyrics wanting to become competitive with me so that alone keeps me inspired even til this day.
Don't put out any work that you aren't content with or it's not as good as you think you can do.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I freestyle and performed my written lyrics all around Northern California at places like soul collective on Broadway.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
This is my last chance, I gotta make this count/
It doesn't cost me much, kinda like a discount/
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I am currently working on a track with Kasinova The Don who people believe is Tupac Shakur.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would because with me it's not about the money, but achieving the goal I know I can make, and the pride that it takes.
