As part of our ongoing "Rap's New Generation" series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Masked up yo from From Philly to the tri-cities in TN. to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint...
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Masked up yo! Let's go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?
Masked up yo: I grew up in institutions for real and the only thing i had that was a constant in my life was music. No matter what i was going through there was a song that helped me get through it. I knew at a early age thats what i wanted to do , but it actually materialized after going to the studio and watching Filthy Rich record the first "Cannons" Mixtape. I don't think i left the studio since.
If its from the heart it cant be wrong. Phoniness is played out so be real💯
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Currently taking a break from touring and shows to focus on my release but "I Aint Asking No More" tour sponsored by whowillblownext is being scheduled as we speak hopefully with stops all across the us. Still booking dates for the tour hittasinc@gmail.com for info/booking.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
"I Aint Asking No More" is a double cd mixtape/album and the first release since i worked with State Property and Roc Nation on "Chasing Mills" because unfortunately i was locked up but thats behind me and the future looks n sounds very bright.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Ive been saying it from the beginning, I ain't signing nothing unless i get millions off top. Independents making way to much and keeping all there rights nowadays keep the fame im in it for the love and check. If i sell 25,000 albums i will probably make more than your average gold maybe even platinum artist signed to a bs deal and the label steady promising next time. Believe in yourself and go get it period💯

Also would like to thank you girl. Had you been loyal i probably wouldn't of chased my dream so hard so thank you for being phoney and pretending to care , But most of all none of any of this would be possible without Mom Dukes. We been through alot we will get through this to. We got alot of the good life to live still. To Harmony , Jeffrey , Boom-Boom, Colten and Maddex. You may not know it but your the reason i do anything and there isn't a day that goes by that i don't feel the pain. I love you all & hope i make you proud.
