Featured artist: Lo - Lancaster Pa Hip-Hop artist takes Rap to Godly levels
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Lo.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Lo: My name is Brett Shepherd aka Lo. I created a brand called #blotheinfluencemuzik. I originally started as a drummer and played for about 8 years. Words was always my thing though as I used to write a lot of poetry. I first ever recorded a rap song in 2012 in a dudes attic in Lewistown Pa. After that I knew I had talent. I felt it. My moms left when I was a year old and my dad worked a lot which made me alone a lot. I had some mental problems and since I was a kid I was emotionally connected to angels and demons. In 2013 I passed away and my experiences took my writing to a new level which took me deep into my music. It became somewhat of its own entity. It's a mixture of metal, religion, spirituality, occultism, mythology and symbolism.

What about concerts? Do you play live?
I've never done a live show but I feel I need to in order to grow more as an artist

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I'm currently working on a full album called "Templar Hearted". I do have an 8 track mixtape out on SoundCloud and YouTube called "Dying To Shine/Initiated"
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would. The cons are that they own all my rights. But I'd get free studio time and the exposure and hopefully respect I deserve. I just wanna rap and feed my family, living comfortably. I have no team so a record deal would probably be my best bet since I can't do independent alone like this. It's getting hard
Any last words?
I wanna shout out my girlfriend Rachael for being through a lot of dark places with me in this journey and helping me see things in a clear mind. I also wanna thank my best homie Sean MacKenzie for raising me since I was in 4th grade and helping me gain confidence. I wanna thank Sourmouth from Portland Oregon for being the realist dude out there, he talked me out of suicide a few times actually and pushed me to keep going. And I wanna thank my dude KingOxi for the dope beat for the track I did called "They're Here". Big shoutout to my home city Lancaster Pa. Also Harrisburg Pa and my new home Pittsburgh Pa.
