Featured artist: Kato - Welcome to the Mid-West
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Kato.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Kato: Music has always been a huge part of my life. Ever since I was young. Grew up listening to oldies classic rock and older hip-hop.
The best advice ever given to me as an artist was that in whatever I do, give it my all. 100% every time. If you feel that you could've done better or you feel like you didn't do everything you could have done, then don't put your name on it.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes I do. I've performed numerous live shows with some pretty big names. Lil Wyte, Lord Infamous, Bone Crusher, and Stevie Stone just to name a few.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Money is the root of all evil is what they're saying, but you can't get anywhere in this life unless you are payin
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I'm currently finishing up my first official EP titled "History In the Making." I've released music before, but this is my first official project that I've put together.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I've always wanted to do this 100% independent. I see way too many artists being suckered by labels and being robbed when they're the actual talent and putting in all the effort and hardwork. But also with that being said, money talks. If the deals right, I just might take it.
Any last words?
I hail from the state of Iowa, right on the border of Illinois and Iowa. A town called davenport which is part of the Quad Cities. Aka the 4. I wanna give a shout out to the big homie Tom Jones aka The Ghost for encouraging to take my music seriously. Shout out to my producer and cameraman KevMoney over at #TheFilmKids. Also shout out to the homie Nate for always having my back in this shit. Without them I'd be lost
Where can we contact you?
Kato: @shades198
Thank you for your time. We wish you and your career the success it deserves.
