Featured artist: Louie C Rhymes - Rapping Teacher With an Old School Vibe
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Louie C Rhymes.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Louie C Rhymes: I was a college student and a former High School Jock and always had listened to hip hop – it was my favorite. I was upset with the music currently being put out on the radio. Specifically rap. I decided to start rapping. One night at a college party some dude was picking on another dudes rhymes. I could tell this kid wasn't trying to rap. When the rapper dude challenged him I stepped up. He rhymed and then I did. Somehow I had won and the crowd yelled louder for me (about 30 people lol) than him. I'm not sure what I rhymed – it was that kind of vibe. When I woke up the next day I freestyled in my room for literally 10 hours. My roommates called my room the club from then on cause the bass was so loud. One of them gave me a music mixer. That was it – I was hooked on the hop forever.

What about concerts? Do you play live?
I do play live. I used to be more involved in the NYC Open Mic scene and I've done a few paid gigs in Long Island and NYC. That's my current goal – I'm trying to get back on the live scene. What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I'm currently working on a variety of projects. I like making live music videos. As a rapper I think the most important thing about spitting it is just that… Spitting live raps shows your ability – anyone can punch in my opinion. I'm not much of an album and mixtape guy even though my manager tells me I should be. I have over 50 songs/projects out on youtube.com/c/louiecrhymes and soundcloud.com/louiecrhymes. I am produced by Left Right Productions – a music organization created by myself and my manager. Together we make beats, and I rap, We are looking for artists who would like to collaborate.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would do whatever I possibly can do to spread my message. The message is simple – there are always 2 sides to everything in life (Left Right Productions). You always trust anyone on your side but not the other. Trust is key. Until the entities representing both sides agree to work together while accepting their differences, there will be no trust. Without trust we are limited. I'd like to make music that gives people something they can trust and relate to but more importantly inspires them to trust in others.
