Featured artist: Maurice - Engraving Footprints In The Game
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Maurice.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Maurice: I always had a love for music and a way with words. I was involved in a ”Hope For Kids” program in my hometown Columbia, SC where I received awards for my poetry. I even recall being so moved by Lil Wayne’s ”The Block Is Hot” track I wrote down the whole song word for word, just so when it come on I could sing along on key lol. This is when I first discovered my love for music, mixed it with my poetry and began creating little rhymes around ten.
The best advice I was given as an artist is to never give up. As well as, don’t get caught up watching the scoreboard.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I do perform live of course, book me and watch me turn that bitch up.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
My best is yet to come…
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
Currently working on introducing my label A.A.O.(Against All Odds). ”So Fly” is out now in all digital platforms, and Youtube check it out(Maurice- So Fly Prod.By Juice Beats)
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Absolutely, as long as the paperwork is right. It seems we live in an age of the empowered independent artist. My goal is to get my money right, so however the cookie crumbles and it’s beneficial I’m willing.
