Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist J-KaL aka Kalifornia.

How did you decide to become an artist?

J-KaL aka Kalifornia: I wrote my first ryme/verse between the ages of 12-14. At the time I didn’t take music seriously it was just a hobbie it was mostly for fun. Then I started to realize my work was actually good so it was a natural instinct for keep me to keep writting.

you would be a better artist if you don’t use cussing in your lyrics

What about concerts? Do you play live?

yes I have performed and I do plan on having more events to show case me performing coming soon

Best punchline you ever wrote?

you bring your hate day/ then ima show you may day/ when people see my pay day/ like Dre when he found shady/ its Dre day/ for people I’m back like aftermath/ like the game when he signed his contract with aftermath/

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Today my next album is in progress titled Makaveli Is Back. I recently released a project called The Long Wait which is some older work of mine but chose to re release with label TMG Tate music group so the songs on the album could get more promotion it deserved, and before that was a mix tape called Flame throwa the final chapter freestyle mix tape.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes I would sign with a major label it brings more exposure for a artist to it’s highest peak the only down side is you wouldn’t see 100 percent of your earnings from record sales as the majors take the big chunk of your income vs being indie where you would collect all of your revenue.

Any last words?

First and for most I would like to give a shot out and thanks to God, my Mother and son Kamarion I would be nothing without them they are my biggest motivation in life. I give special thanks to my city I’m repping South Side Sacramento. Much love to the whole state of Washington for supporting me Seattle, Tacoma, Lynnwood and Everett. Special thanks to my cousin Rick Royals for his dedication with helping me develop. Shots out to J-Killa of crooked face productions the first indie label I signed onto when first entering the rap game J Kill had faith in me and helped me through my development stages. I can’t forget about the last group I was apart of ATM even tho we faced our ups and downs together. Shouts out to Litt Sherm one of the best producers I know hands down. And also shouts out to every artist I ever worked with can’t name them all but much love you know who you are.
