Anubis and the Sixteen Pads of Soul ...

Featured artist: Anubis - Anubis and the Sixteen Pads of Soul …

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Anubis.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Anubis: I have had a love of music since I was a young child and was influenced by many of the great record albums that I would play during our Saturday morning house cleaning chores. My attention was never on the artist’s performance, rather, on the music itself and how it was arranged and engineered. Back in the 80’s I heard Mantronix using a drum machine and I was sold — from that point, I wanted to be a music producer!
Throughout the years, I would emulate other great producers and learn from them. In 1999, I began producing music on an 8 track recorder and created sounds with everyday items such as Tupperware containers, paper cups, plastic lids, and other various items. I found that I had a knack for sound design and arrangement as well as sound engineering.
From that point on, I began working on music every chance I had. My training through Abbey Roads Studios polished and refined my skills, making me the producer and sound engineer that I am today!

That, in music production, there are no rules!

What about concerts? Do you play live?

No, I do not play live, however, I have been the sound engineer for a live performance featuring my music.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Meet me under the pyramid…

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I have released many compilations of my music featuring various artists who performed on my tracks. Currently, I am working on several productions featuring some new artists and will be highlighting them on my website.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes, I would sign a contract with a major label. According to me, the pros would be having the ability to be surrounded by the most up to date music equipment. I also would love to have my music heard by a much larger audience. To me, the cons would be work schedule and inability to set my own schedule.

Any last words?

I would like to give thanks to my family, for if it were not for those Saturday house cleaning sessions, I wouldn’t be here.

To my wife and children for supporting and loving me throughout all the ups and downs, ins and outs…

Thanks goes out to all of the artists that I have worked with in the past, present and those who are yet to come! I’m looking forward to many more years of great memories and fantastic sounds!
