How did you decide to become an artist?
TNT Tha Nasty Tone: Istarted rapping in ’’78 ’’ just saying rhymes here and there.At that time rapping was like the new thing and everybody was doing it.I saw Kool Moe Dee before i really knew he was rapping in the park.So i study his style and i knew i wanted to do what he did.That summer my family moved from Harlem,NY to Daytona Beach,Fl.I kept rapping and people will always say do that ny thing you do,so i got well known quick.Then rappers Delight came out and i was like whoa!!!!! then soon Kool Moe Dee and his group The Treacherous 3 came out and it was wrap.So thats when i know i wanted to be a rapper,didn’t discover the artistry til a few years later but i had the drive
The best advice i was given,was from the late,great Heavy D.I was performing with a group and we was opening for Salt-N-Pepa,Heavy D and The Boyz,Kid N Play,The late Johnny Kemp and Keith Sweat.Anyway we was on stage in front of 15,000 plus.a couple of members got nervous and forgot their lines and the dj missed his cuts.We got booed but i kept going.Isaw heavy D and he said he saw what happend but i kept going.He said no matter what,Never Quit.so i feel like i owe that to him.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
As a independent artist,i do much shows as i can.I still have to work and earn a salary,but i do as much as i can.I love performing on stage.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
came from the I.T.I.W.A and just pass/the Ike Turner Institute of Whipping some Ass
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
Where do i start.I’ve been making music so long that sometimes i have to think myself.I always made cd’s and pass out my music but now we’re in the digital era.I recorded 15 albums of material but i only have 1 album Poetry-N-Motion 2011 and TNT Slide(work it out) 2014 on-line.But i’m bout to drop 5 albums in 2015
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No major deals for me.I’ve been independent for a long time.Benn offered some deals but didn’t like what was on the table.I’m happy where i am
