Featured artist: SIDDIQ - What He Do
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist SIDDIQ.
How did you decide to become an artist?
SIDDIQ: I’ve always had this yearning to express myself. I am naturally introverted and I avoid conflict as much as possible because I am explosive. I found the release in writing and rapping. When I saw LL Cool J perform DJ Cut Creator on Saturday Night Live, that’s when I knew I wanted to be on stage. His energy was astounding.
Keep writing and you will keep getting better.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I have done a concert in the past when me and my group opened up for Public Enemy. I want to do concerts.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
drake is comin thru, u betta hide ur bitches, rick ross at tha door nigga hide ur chicken
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I am working on the From Tha Heart which is an EP. I will be releasing Atria in November and Ventricle in Spring ’15. Both are halves of From Tha Heart.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would. Pros are management and marketing. Cons are doing things at their pace. I don’t like being told what to do with my own stuff.
Any last words?
Shout Out to Foster Boy GTP out of Dothan, Alabama, Alabama Power World (Big Sat and Lady Lyrick), and big Shout Out to Anno Domini, who produced Atria!
