Featured artist: King Cobe - The Brokest White Rapper you Know
”If I were you, I’d enjoy the freedom to create whatever you desire to/ but I’m not so I admire you.” – underground Maryland emcee ’Math’
Upcoming underground artist King Cobe just answered some questions. Checkout the interview below and share if you like it.
Thanks for your time. How did you decide to become an artist?
King Cobe: I always thought Hip Hop could be more creative, more imaginative, and more experimental than it was. Nothing got me more excited to make my own music than listening to shitty popular Hip Hop in the 2000s.
Don’t get me wrong, underground emcees and producers helped inspire me too- but it’s kind of intimidating only listening to artists you admire. I got pumped listening to(or rather, overhearing) popular shit I hate because I thought ”I can do better than THAT.”
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I played many live shows from 2006-2010 but went through some personal turmoil between then and now. I would like nothing more than to do it again with material from my new LP.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
”I’m a G ’cause I’m in the Game like Gary Gygax”
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
My first solo LP is called ”The Maximalist Manifesto” and will drop later this year. I released ”Bohemian Rap-city” and ”The Low-down Throwdown” in a duo called ’Sub Urban Defiance Alliance[SUDA]’ with MC Graham and ”Drunker than You” in a duo called ’Delete Fucking Everything’ with Ahab Quixote.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Rich rappers are rat-shit. Fuck your revenues, I put a hex on you. Ratchet.
Shoutouts and credits to the fam?
My timeless collaborators listed above. Bohemian Groove is Baltimore’s finest music maker besides me. Wazinated & Industrious Pimp are both True artists I’ve worked on tracks with recently.
So how can we contact you?
