Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist KO.

How did you decide to become an artist?

KO: I didn’t necessarily choose to become an artist, I consider it a tool that was gifted to me, perhaps something I have worked hard for in previous lives and continue to work hard for in this life… I have been writing poetry since a teenager and have continued to sharpen my skills since… I started flowin as a teenager as well and I loved the art of words spoken over beats… I have quite a collection of lyrics that I have written over the years as well as songs… I have a great ear for music and I know I am one of the best, I have had many challenges in life to make me into the man that I am… and I am just now starting to feel as though it is definitely time to step out into the spotlight one way or another or at least get the ball rolling that will eventually smash through the door that will get me there… I am a true artist, my lyrics are deep and meaningful… I will not change or sell out for anybody I would keep my dignity over a million dollars any day… what I need now is a good clean studio so I will start exporing my options, yes I can be long winded… I enjoy writing as well and would consider myself to be a quite an interesting personality :) I’m still struggling with life and mental issues but who isint… so I’m a writer, rapper and a fighter… I actually have a fight coming up this friday, I do MMA, boxing and kickboxing…. I love martial arts as well…. I would like to at the very least start working on a CD I can sell locally and make enough cash to help me out and come up a bit… I think I deserve that! lol…. well I guess that will be all for this question

I think the best advice is from myself, which is follow your heart, follow your dream and if you know in your soul you are improving as a human being through your art then don’t worry about anything any hater or doubter has to say

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I have not played live or done any concerts, I would like to give it a try at some point

Best punchline you ever wrote?

takin it to a place it aint been taken before, the poetic placement of ancient artistic ways of wavin a sword

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

all I am currently working on is when I hear a beat I love I write to it, I don’t have a studio or the money at the moment to put something official together but I have notebooks full and stacked and plenty of beats I love, but they also require purchasing, shadowville is my favorite internet beat spot and I have been writing to their beats for years but havent put together anything official, just computer and a mic recording for fun

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

it depends on if I had full creative control or not, I’m a chief not a kid lol, for real though, full creative control is a must, I would rather do local/independent with full control than a major record label

Any last words?

I would give a shoutout to my family and 3 kids, my homeys I came up with in Renton and a few cats that have became like brothers that I met in the lynnwood/Everett area
