Featured artist: Shortiie Raw - Shortiie Raw Talks Music
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Shortiie Raw.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Shortiie Raw: I realized I wanted to be an artist since I was about 7 years old. Anything that bothered me or made me feel some type of way, I’d end up writing about it and it would turn into a poem. One day I actually decided to face my fears and go into a studio to record, from then on that’s when I knew that rapping was something I want to do for the rest of my life.
Never take anything for granted.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes I do give concerts. I’m actually thinking about having a showcase this year again for my upcoming mixtape.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Raw City Bitch
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I’m currently working on my mix tape which is called ”Raw City”. It’ll be released this August.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would, but it would honestly depend on the deal and how much they’re talking. To be honest the pro to signing to a record label is that you don’t need a mentor to tell you what to do. They already have everything outlined for you including a certain image they want you to portray. The con about signing to a record label is that you have to sell a certain amount of cd’s to make sure everyone gets they’re cut. So if they want you to sell over 10,000 records and you only sell 5,000 you’re basically screwed.
Any last words?
Shout out to my whole city. To the ones who work hard to the ones who have everyday struggles. Especially to the ones who’ve been supporting me from day one like my producers and my #RawNation.
Where can we contact you?
Shortiie Raw: You can contact me via twitter. My username is @shortiieraw
Thank you for your time. We wish you and your career the success it deserves.
