Featured artist: Mavrikk - preparation or punishment
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Mavrikk.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Mavrikk: It’s almost like I didn’t have a choice. Rap was just fun for me at first. Just a way to be cool. The more I got Into it the more I wanted to hone my craft. Like any rapper I struggled with wondering if I was good enough or not because coming from a small town there’s not a lot of support or outlets. A lot of people said I couldn’t do it or I’m wasting my time. But if someone says I CAN’T do something then I’m gonna do just that.
Never give up. That has to be the one piece of advice that sticks with you. It’s so hard to get a name in this business, a lot of time you just want to quit and try something else. on the other hand if you give up you will never kknow how far you can actually take your talents or better yet how far your talents will take you.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I love performing live. it’s a rush. A high that can’t be matched by any drug you might find on the streets(kids don’t do drugs). preforming llive gives me a feeling of the world stopping. frozen in the moment because that moment is one to remember.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
I’m just a bad guy tryna be a good man
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I have released a few mixtapes in the past and I’m currently working on ”The RRubric I hold the rubric close to my heart and I looking forward to releasing it on datpiff in mid may.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes and no. for me it’s all in the details you know. The right contract the right price. there’s no black and white to it. you just have to be smart and pay attention.
Any last words?
I’m from Waynesboro VA 540. I love my home and shouts to my 4 year old boy mavy jr. I hope one day he will be as proud of me as I am of him.
