Thanks for your time. How did you decide to become an artist?
Narmandy: I think it began when i was six and i watched the movies Beat Street and Wildstyle. These two movies got me started on hip hop culture I enjoyed it as a kid and practiced my skills and got knowledge. I been a dancer since 6, started with breaking and all the true hip hop forms of dance and just kept doing it always tryna get my skills up. I first heard a Whodini tape and it blew my mind! Big Fan of Rakim,Public Enemy,Big Daddy Kane, and all them. NWA, Mac Mall, and MC eight were sick too! When Nas and the Wu-Tang came out, it was over! I stayed freestyling with my friends at school, and practicing writing stuff a lil bit. We was always freestyling everywhere and then Eminem dropped and it was really ovah. I didn’t know rhyming to that degree was even possible, but Em made it easy. So i just kept up with the art, buying Nas albums and everyone else dope and busting freestyles with my boys all day over everyones tracks, even if you could hear there voice in the background, We didn’t have many instrumentals so…..
I guess it taught me how to ride the beat, that and being a dancer kinda taught me how i want to interpret the song before i go in, i guess…
So i been finally recording a few tracks bc we never really had any home equipment till now and one of my boys put me onto this free progam called Audacity. I started to record myself and its a process but just tryna make myself happy and tell stories on the mic. I try to just talk and it usually seems to come out way better than constructing some whole concocted wishwash. Its usually things i experience in everyday life that i rap about. Its more real that way. Real Art. Real Poems.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
No, i just do freestyles everywhere. I got a couple boys i have performed with before so i did a couple times. Its usually freestyles anywhere though.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
I don’t have a best punchline, but here’s one i made recently that kinda dope. -Narmandy flow is tactical, Drug flow like a trafficker, No need to battle ya Norman with throw the trash with ya! (Norman Bates)
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
A 4 track mixtape on live mixtapes this Summer. I just have my soundcloud stuff.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No. I just want to record and kick freestyles among the best. I don’t want to go a certain way with my music. I just wanna make dope shit and keep getting better. There is so many levels to it.
Shoutouts and credits to the fam?
