Featured artist: JenesisNYC - Jenesis: The Beginning and the End
when it comes to writing its like a puzzle, sometime you need to rearrange your lyrics to make it flow better
Upcoming underground artist JenesisNYC just answered some questions. Checkout the interview below and share if you like it.
Thanks for your time. How did you decide to become an artist?
JenesisNYC: I remember my older brother who at the time created beats asked me to say something on his track, once I heard my voice I was intrigued. As a teenager I had a passion for writing so I incorporated the two. So when I went off to college I found myself free styling with my friends for fun, but they all liked my sound and flow. Another sign that was given to me happened one summer a few years ago I met my cousin in South Carolina. Come to find out we attended the same high school. She too rapped. I asked her what she thought about my songs she told me I didn’t need any help that all is needed to do was to omit some words. Every since than I have been extremely passionate about my craft.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
i have never preformed yet. i expect to preform in July at a music festival.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
a Bitch step to me, question me, she gonna get my stiletto heel receipe in her mouth for free
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I have released 5 songs. I am currently creating a EP, untitled.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, I would sign a record contract in a heart beat with a mjor label. Pros, you have more money to do what you want to do with your brand, image wise, lifestytle, invest in yourself without feeling like you have to rob the bank to do so. Dealing with a major label your able to calib with other major artist. Your social network will catapult. Huge pro! As for Cons, you owe them for all the money they put up for you so you must now get your face out there, shows must sell out, you have more pressure on you. But that’s the price you pay when you borrowing other peoples money, they want that plus more.
Shoutouts and credits to the fam?
I represent LONG ISLAND, NY. All the boroughs that make up NYC alongside NEW JERSEY and CONNETICUIT. I would like to shout out Chris BOONE who is my mentor and who advises. I would like to shout out BUCK 300 for giving me confirmation its my time to shine. DAX who also took the time out to give me the ins and outs on what’s to come with this music industry, Shout to my brother who always says don’t give up even when you think you have failed, keep trying the pay off is worth it.
