Featured artist: D-Troit aka ”D” - D-Troits Interview with Rapbeats
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist D-Troit aka ”D”.
How did you decide to become an artist?
D-Troit aka ”D”: My parents both played the guitar and wrote songs in my youth. It had a long lasting effect on my 2 brothers and I. With my sisters it was fassion, which they got from mom. As kids my brothers and I wrote to instrumentals with friends and recorded the old ghetto way with two radios facing each other, one playing the beat and the other recording us along with the beat played. Over the years I wrote hundreds of songs and self-learned audio production until it grew into a full blown and catered-to passion of mine.
The best advice given to me was that I was the only thing holding me back from greatness due to fear. Once I realized the truth in that I let loose.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I have yet to perform with an actual live band but I have given live performances and some were quite successful.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Named myself after my city, origin-al rhymes so when they say my name they help me in my grind to put my hometown on where it shouldve been all this time.
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I am currently working on an album with a talented artist and great friend DirtyUA, entitled Double D’s. In the past I released two mixtapes, ”Petro (Gas Tracks)” in 2011 and ”The 4th Letter” in 2013.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I think my best bet would just be a distribution contract thru the majors. I’d clash with the whole mainstream appeal cuz I’m nothing like any if them. However, I need the network of a major label to get the numbers I need to prove my work is effective.
Any last words?
Shout out to the most high first of all. Thank you God and thank you Jesus! Shouts to all my family from Detroit, MI to my roots in the dirty South. Shouts to my friends and acquaintances in Detroit, New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Texas, California, Louisiana. Shouts to my network in Lagos Nigeria, Jamaica, and a few other countries who worked with me and my label Purple City Production out if Austin, Texas the live music capital. Shouts to the entire underground revolution!
